Dr. Samantha Montoya grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina, where she was a competitive swimmer throughout high school. She earned partial swimming and academic scholarships to Xavier University, where she spent her first year of college before an injury led her to transfer to North Carolina State University, graduating in 2015.
She was accepted to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her Doctor of Dental Surgery training, which she completed in 2020. It was in dental school that she met her husband, Jonathan; the two moved to Gainesville together so Dr. Montoya could pursue her orthodontic residency at the University of Florida.

In her free time, Dr. Montoya enjoys pilates and triathlons, playing pickleball, drinking good coffee, and visiting the Florida beaches with her husband Jonathan, their son Jaden, and her step-son Jett.
